Kachra Kundi, located about 50 miles from Karachi, is a large garbage dump where thousands of families make a living by collecting and selling waste. For years, the residents lacked basic necessities like clean water, electricity, and access to education. However, thanks to our partnership, we are transforming this reality.
Transforming Lives Through the DREAMS Campuses
Since 2014, One Ummah Foundation has partnered with Thaakat Foundation to make a big difference in Kachra Kundi. One Ummah and Thaakat Foundation have partnered up to bring the light of hope to those children living among piles of garbage in the village of Kachra Kundi.
After partnering with Thaakat Foundation and their on-site partner, Adra Al Kahir Welfare Society, One Ummah Foundation is proud to built three DREAMS campuses with 45 staff serving over 1000 students.
Today, DREAMS campuses are filled with over 1,300 students who now see their dreams within reach. Remarkably, 49% of students are female, and 70% of those enrolled in college programs are young women.
Impactful Contributions in 2018
In 2018, One Ummah Foundation made several important contributions to support education in Kachra Kundi:
$10,000 was used to buy land for an all-girls campus in Wangi Goth, ensuring girls have access to education.
$5,000 helped cover monthly costs like teacher salaries, food, and other essentials for DREAMS Campus III.
$2,000 was given for a sewing program to help adult women in the community learn new skills.
$3,000 supported Al Khair College, helping 102 students continue their education.
These contributions have greatly improved the lives of children and families in Kachra Kundi, giving them hope and the opportunity for a better life through education.
