A cleft lip or palate is a congenital condition, meaning it occurs from birth. This happens when certain parts of the face don’t fully join together during development, leaving a gap, or “cleft,” in the lip or palate. Those born with this condition often face challenges in speaking, eating, and even breathing comfortably. It affects not only their health but also their social interactions, making daily life a struggle for them and their families.
In many parts of the world, including Pakistan, families may lack the resources to access the surgeries needed to correct these issues. But with the dedicated support of One Ummah Foundation (OUF) for CLAPP (Cleft Lip and Palate Association of Pakistan), hope and healing are now possible.
CLAPP and One Ummah Foundation’s Mission: Giving New Smiles
For over two decades, The One Ummah Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of the Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Pakistan (CLAPP), working hand in hand to provide life-changing care to those who need it most.
CLAPP, founded in 2003 in Faisalabad, Pakistan, has one mission: to offer free surgeries to underprivileged individuals born with cleft lip and palate conditions, empowering them from being "disabled to enabled" with a single surgery.
With the continuous support of OUF, CLAPP has achieved phenomenal milestones, having completed over 46,000 life-changing surgeries. The numbers speak volumes:
200 Surgical Missions
23,968 patients operated during Surgical Missions
22,041 patients treated at the CLAPP Hospital in Lahore
Real Impact: Stories of Transformation
One Ummah Foundation has already contributed significantly to CLAPP’s work, and we are committed to helping more people in need. Each surgery supported through OUF partnership with CLAPP means someone can eat, speak, and smile with ease. These changes go far beyond appearance; they open doors to participate fully in the community without limitations.
Dr. Ghulam Qadim Fayyaz, a renowned plastic surgeon, leads CLAPP’s surgeries. The reach of Dr. Fayyaz’s work extends far beyond Pakistan. CLAPP's missions have helped people around the world, giving them the chance at a better life.
To truly understand the profound impact of Dr. Fayyaz’s work and the reach of CLAPP's mission, we encourage you to read the "Rwanda: One Among Thousands" article.
